School Overview
Location:
Midway Hills Academy is a public charter school with Title 1 status. The school is situated on
the fringe of a rural area of Baldwin County.
Demographics:
Midway Hills Academy serves an average of 494 students. Of those students approximately 63%
are African American, 27% are White, and 7% are Multiracial. About 93% of the students are
eligible for free or reduced lunch, this same percentage applies to students considered
economically disadvantaged.
Background:
2
Although Midway Hills Academy has been considered a failing school, the school was
moved to the promise school list. This year we were informed that we were removed from both
the failing and promise school list. There has been an increase in spending on students and
technology over the recent years with the district focusing on technology to enhance the
performance of students overall in all subject areas. This initiative also includes investing in 1:1
chromebooks for students and new research based learning platforms.
Mission and Values Statement:
The mission of Midway Hills Academy is to develop successful students who will reach their full
potential to be college and career ready in order to meet the challenges of work and life.
Midway Hills Academy will be a school of excellence where students thrive academically,
socially, and emotionally in a positive, safe, learning environment.
