The school is situated on the fringe of a rural area of Baldwin County. Demographics: Midway Hills Academy serves an average of 494 students. Of those students approximately 63% are African American, 27% are White, and 7% are Multiracial. About 93% of the students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, this same percentage applies to students considered economically disadvantaged. Background:
2 Although Midway Hills Academy has been considered a failing school, the school was moved to the promise school list. This year we were informed that we were removed from both the failing and promise school list. There has been an increase in spending on students and technology over the recent years with the district focusing on technology to enhance the performance of students overall in all subject areas. This initiative also includes investing in 1:1 chromebooks for students and new research based learning platforms. Mission and Values Statement: The mission of Midway Hills Academy is to develop successful students who will reach their full potential to be college and career ready in order to meet the challenges of work and life. Midway Hills Academy will be a school of excellence where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a positive, safe, learning environment. Standards, Goals, and Objectives Ongoing Project: Midway Hills Academy Educator Resource (Google Site) 1. I will create a google site that will house guides for Science and STEM Fairs for teachers, students, and parents. 2. I will create a google site for the enrichment specialist for the integration of reading, math, science, social studies, and technology into their subject areas. Selections will be based on teacher surveys that inquired on their learning preferences and needs for integration. 2.1 Learner- Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning. Educators: Standard ISTE-2017.1.a Goal Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness. Objective I will implement technology in the classroom that is able to personalize
3 learning for students, differentiates students learning and project production. Utilizing technology to create a collaborative environment for STEM. Standard ISTE-2017.1.b Goal Pursue professional interests by creating and actively participating in local and global learning networks. Objective Participating and sharing instructional technology learning with school-based professional learning communities (i.e. School Improvement Leadership Team meetings, Professional Learning led by myself, informal learning sessions, and LETRS Training etc) Standard ISTE-2017.1.c Goal Stay current with research that supports improved student learning outcomes, including findings from the learning sciences. Objective Attend conferences or professional learning to improve content knowledge. Implement new knowledge in the STEM classroom to improve students knowledge and skills.(STEM workshops, LETRS Training, etc) 2.2 Leader- Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning. Educators: Standard ISTE-2017.2.c Goal Model for colleagues the identification, exploration, evaluation, curation and adoption of new digital resources and tools for learning. Objective Sharing instructional technology learning with school-based professional learning communities (i.e. School Improvement Leadership Team meetings, Professional Learning led by myself, informal learning sessions with colleagues based on their preferred learning preferences, etc) 4.2 Connected Learner- Coaches model the ISTE Standards for Students and the ISTE Standards for

4 Educators, and identify ways to improve their coaching practice. Coaches: Standard ISTE GCSU 22.4-2b Goal Actively participate in professional learning networks to enhance coaching practice and keep current with emerging technology and innovations in pedagogy and the learning sciences. Objective I will use research, experimentation, implementation, and then reflect on the use of new or existing learning tools in the STEM classroom based on publications. Use student feedback to address individual learning needs. Share with colleagues new technology as well as how to implement effective STEM lessons or address needs with current learning tools. Keep current with effective use of technology in the learning environments, share those uses and implementation with colleagues. Standard ISTE GCSU 22.4-2c Goal Establish shared goals with educators, reflect on successes and continually improve coaching and teaching practice. Objective I will utilize School Improvement Leadership Team meetings to share goals and reflections on the established shared goals we have as a school in regards to learning technology that is being utilized to improve student performance. Data from student learning outcomes will guide improvements that need to be made within the teaching practice. 4.3 Collaborator- Coaches establish productive relationships with educators in order to improve instructional practice and learning outcomes. Coaches: Standard ISTE GCSU 22.4-3a Goal Establish trusting and respectful coaching relationships that encourage educators to explore new instructional strategies. Objective I will continue to establish respectful and trusting relationships with other educators. I will offer guidance and assistance to math and science, with some relationship to STEM learning, instructional strategies that include use of online learning platforms to meet student needs. Professional development directed at enrichment specialists to guide in the implementation in their arts classrooms (music, fine arts,

Ed., and creative writing) 4.5 Professional Learning Facilitator- Coaches plan, provide and evaluate the impact of professional learning for educators and leaders to use technology to advance teaching and learning. Coaches: Standard ISTE GCSU 22.4-5a Goal Design professional learning based on needs assessments and frameworks for working with adults to support their cultural, social-emotional and learning needs. Objective I will provide a synchronous and asynchronous Science and Engineering Fair How-To, STEM Fair How-To, and Enrichment Specialist for Literacy Integration in the Arts. professional learning presentations in order to meet teachers where they are in terms of learning needs, provide learner choice for developments, and consider group dynamics of the educators in the building.
