2.
Reflect on the scenarios presented in the game. Was there anything you found particularly difficult? Anything that surprised you?
I found the “Whispers” scenario difficult. It's quite concerning that the Production Director lied to his team about the serious setback in the lab. Employee morale and trust may suffer as a result, and the product launch may also be in at risk. I was mostly surprised by the willingness of some of the character to act unethically in order to attain their goals.
3.
Explain one of the decision-making scenarios you were given in this level and analyze it in terms of one of this week’s theories.
(Note: for full credit, be sure you name the theory you are using, explain the theory fully, and then explain how the scenario illustrates that theory)
For this week’s theory, I choose Social Contract Theory. In social contract, individuals agree to give up some of their freedoms in order to live in a society with laws and order (Fryer, 2014). The scenario that closely align with social contract theory is “The Whisper”. Like my answer for question number 2,
the production director lying to his team is a violation of the social contract by breaking the trust between employer and employees.
4.
How could you use the concepts discussed in this simulation in your job today? Relate these concepts to the other course materials and to your own experiences. (Note: for full credit, be sure discuss a specific scenario, a specific example from your own experiences, and a specific connection to something you learned from the text)
In “The Ring Binder” scenario, where an employee found a confidential document and used the information to the company’s advantage against their competitors. Although I did not experience this personally, but I had been affected when one of the airmen used a confidential document the wrong way. This scenario also closely aligned with Kantian Theory. In Kantian, we have a duty to act in ways that re universalize. We should act in ways that we would want everyone else to act, regardless of our own personal circumstances (Fryer, 2014).
