Supernatural beings seem to come in three basic types. What are they? Give an example of each.
Animism: The belief that all things have a function and a soul- including rocks plants, and animals. Shamans practice animism. (charms such as lucky rabbit feet is an example in the textbook)
Second, is the belief of supernatural beings that have human origin- such as ghost or our ancestors. The belief that the real and the supernatural reflect each other. This is also a practice form early shamans where they would
enter trance to speak with ancestors to receive guidance and wisdom. Lastly, is the belief of supernatural with nonhuman origin. Beings that had created themselves (gods) – San or other belief have deities of 2 – some religion may refer to it as Elohim- who created all things and is the creator.
51.
How can an anthropologist make a difference in the changing world of today, or is the world in need of engineers and technicians who can invent new ways to solve problems? That is, how can the anthropological perspective be used to examine global issues such as overpopulation, deforestation, global warming, and the loss of biodiversity?
Anthropology can bring awareness to the accelerating defects of modernization. It can dive into the history of success from previous population or it can bring solid example of failure that contributes to the damage of our planet. The loss of biodiversity – and the crisis of honey bees going extinct which in turn would be a ripple effect of so many other failures and lessen our food supply. The world and the green lands are becoming smaller
and smaller – I believe the study of anthropology would create great difference and bring awareness to issues that are actually issues. There isn’t a need of a new generation of iPhones- there is a need to bring awareness to overconsumption and the waste that it contributes to our planet.

Answer the following long essay questions on this page front and back if necessary
. Hint: be creative then outline your answer, please write clearly and to the point. This essay is worth 20 points
.

You
are an anthropologist hired by the government in Afghanistan that has recently undergone a transformation because of the withdrawal of American troops (2019) with rampant insurgency, civil chaos, and disease; and is sinking into a state of possible civil war. Your task is to implement political and economic measures to stabilize the population, and you must identify and consider of some of the social and cultural differences between Muslim residents and NATO peace keeping personnel. Illustrate your answer using these contrasts as they apply to economics, social structure, and political organization.
Being an anthropologist in such a scenario- with the task at hand to implement political and economic measures through training sites and establishing structure and order. Understanding the issue of the type of aid materials provides to developing nations are wrongfully established as a superficial gesture- where they might be profiting for the goods that were provided and the core may not have true means of help. I would want to go in and find a member that understands politics and the needs of the people that are there. Not just pushing on a structure or setup from a different country and culture but implementing the culture of the
people and accessing the issue at hand with an anthropological perspective. Creating a system in a wholesome way to truly extend help without expecting to reason or change- that is the practice of altruism.
