The company selected for this discussion is Pepsico The country selected for this discussion is Brazil Explain your selected country’s society and their culture. The people of Brazil are a combination of indigenous, Portuguese, African with all having a major influence on current day culture. However, the Portuguese influence is the most dominant and is the primary reason Portuguese is the national language of Brazil. Brazilian culture is defined by very close or tightknit family structure with many within society still following traditional gender roles. The majority of Brazilians worship as Roman Catholics with the practitioners of that particular religion making up over two-thirds of the population. Brazilians are known to enjoy outdoor activities, a very rhythmic society with many dancing Samba. Brazil is also known for its festivities mainly Carnival which is one if its better-known national celebrations. Differences between Brazilian and U.S cultures Some differences between Brazil and the U.S is that in general Brazilians are a more collective society with a greater emphasis on the extended family. With many living in very close proximity to one another. This is in contrast to the more American culture of individualism. Americans are encouraged to leave home, seek out the world, and "make it". Brazil in comparison to the U.S is higher in power distance, higher in uncertainty avoidance and higher in long term orientation (Hofstede-insights) Brazilians will tend to look forward and persevere towards a better future Brazilians believe hierarchy should be respected whereas in the U.S everyone is special. (Green& Keegan 2020). From an entertainment perspective the most popular sport is soccer in Brazil. Similarities between Brazil and the United States One major similarity between the two countries is physical appearance and the need to look a certain way. Brazil leads the world in cosmetic surgery surpassing the U.S. (Farber 2021) Both countries are federal republics. Determine what social, cultural, political, or legal or regulatory characteristics you would need to take advantage of to avoid unneeded and costly adaptations of the marketing mix. Brazil is the largest market in Latin America and according to some estimates either the 10th or 8th largest economies in the world. (Mergent 2019). Understanding this dynamic ensures that there is economic base within Brazil that will have the ability to purchase its products. Given Brazil's more collective society, using diffusion theory, adoption of its products would progress at more rapid pace. The collective society leads to a heightened
interaction effect as households would be able to further influence the awareness of PepsiCo products (Green&Keegan 2020).
