“The modern interest in performance can be traced to several different developments in the early 1970s, in the art world, in academic theatre, and in the social sciences, particularly sociology and anthropology"(Theatre 75). So how I feel about the theory about performance becoming important for all the academic fields of anthropology and sociology is that I agree with it. “This approach, turning away from more abstract symbolic and structural models to study everyday interactions and the communicative strategies of embodied practice, characterized much of the most important and innovative work during the following decades in anthropology, sociology, ethnography, psychology, and linguistics” (Theatre 78). From what we have learned thus far throughout this chapter and the previous ones is that without the knowledge and history of other cultures we would not be as advanced as we are today. It is simply crazy to believe that theatre and performance all started in Greece and spread like a wildfire throughout all the other cultures and countries. It allowed us to study people, which gave us a better understanding of other cultures.
