This case study, in my opinion, did a fantastic job of highlighting one area where cross- cultural misconceptions might occur. Joe and Mae seemed to have benefited from a more excellent grasp of Idlete's culture before hiring her. "When we explore the deeply embedded reasons why someone did something, a rational explanation that makes sense to those who share that culture usually emerges," 1 says Duane Elmer. I genuinely feel that if they could better comprehend her culture, her behavior would make more sense. As a possible solution to their dilemma, I would be cautious about removing them from their new church plant. I feel that if they could reach an understanding and a point of forgiveness, trust between them and others in their community may blossom. "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you," 2 Ephesians 4:32 states. Yes, they are in a difficult circumstance, but they now have the chance to demonstrate Christ's love. If they merely moved on, they could miss out on this opportunity. 1 Bri an M.
