Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The structure of heroin is to be determined, which formed when morphine reacts with two moles of acetic anhydride.

Concept Introduction:

>

Morphine is found naturally in a number of plants and animals. It acts directly on the central nervous system to decrease the feeling of pain. It can be taken for both acute pain and chronic pain.

>

Alkaloids are a huge and complex group of cyclic compounds that contain N-atom. Morphine is an example of alkaloid.

>

Acetic anhydride is an acetylating agent.

>
