Two square matrices $\text{A}$ and $\text{B}$ are said to commute if $\text{AB=BA}$. If $\text{A}$ and $\text{B}$ are symmetric, prove that $\text{AB}$ is symmetric if and only if $\text{A}$ and $\text{B}$ commute.
