The diaphragm (muscular sheet) divides the thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. The thoracic cavity is present over the top of the abdominopelvic cavity. The thoracic cavity possesses the mediastinum. The mediastinum separates the neck with thoracic cavity. Inside the mediastinum, the heart, bronchi, the lungs, and trachea are enclosed. These are connected by important blood vessels.
