Events during the relaxation of muscle fiber and the role of ATP during this process.

Introduction:

The muscle consists of muscle cells called muscle fiber. The bundle of muscle fiber forms muscle fascicle. The muscle fiber is surrounded by the plasma membrane known as sarcolemma. The electrical signal known as action potential is carried by the motor neuron that stimulates muscle fiber action potential which causes muscle contraction. The muscle fiber relaxes when acetylcholine is not released at the neuromuscular junction. The calcium ion is pumped into the sarcoplasmic reticulum from the sarcoplasm. The calcium level decreases in sarcoplasm and cross-bridge cycling stops.
