Deficit or deficiency needs are the lower needs. Failure to meet these creates a deficiency in the body. Growth (being) needs are higher needs. Even though growth needs happen to be less necessary compared to deficit needs required for survival, these include the realization as well as the fulfillment of a human’s potential.
