Introduction:
The initiation of the formation of dorsal-ventral axis is accomained by the gurken message. When the oocyte volume increses in size, the oocyte nucleus is driven by the microtubules in an anterior dorsal position. The gene gurken interact with other genes like Egfr (Drosophila epidermal growth factor receptor homolog), and cornichon to follow a signal transduction pathway for the establishment of dorsal-ventral polarity.
