Concept introduction:

Sutures are basically immovable joints that form the boundaries between the cranial bones. Sutures are maintained by dense regular connective tissues that firmly hold the cranial bones together. There are numerous sutures present in the skull, each having a particular name. The largest sutures include the sagittal, coronal, lambdoid, and squamous sutures.
