Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) or the atopic eczema is a type of inflammation of the skin. It can occur at any age, but most often affect the infants and young children. The causes of this inflammation include the altered the skin barrier function that associated with the mutations of filaggrin (filament aggregating protein) gene and deficiency of filaggrin, altered innate immunity, reduced levels of ceramide, and the decreased antimicrobial peptides.
