Concept introduction:
The expression of genes is regulated mostly at the promoters of genes by transcription factors during initiation of transcription. They bend the DNA after binding to the recognition site. Both activators and repressors are used as transcription regulators. Activators bind to enhancers and increase the transcription rate. The transcription factors act by binding DNA and proteins having DNA-binding domains.
