Introduction to case study: Job characteristics models also known as (JCM) is a model that proposes that any job can be described in five core jobs such as Skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback.
Explanation of Solution
Job characteristics models can motivate individual in various ways. This model was developed by J. Richard Hackman and Greg Oldham. According to this model any job can be described in five core jobs. There are,
- Skill variety − It is required to for different tasks in the job.
- Task identity- It is the completion of work required.
- Task significance- It is the impact the job has on the lives of other people.
- Autonomy- The individual’s freedom in scheduling the work and how it will be carried out.
- Feedback- Obtaining clear information about his or her performance.
Therefore, these models motivated the employee’s growth and also their strength. They will be motivated to work harder, high quality performance will be provided, high satisfaction with work and low absenteeism and high turnover can be accepted as well.
