Introduction:

There are different categories of memories stored by the brain. The memory is broadly classified into two types, namely short-term memory and long-term memory. Ability to store information for a short time in the brain is referred to as working memory. A memory that can be verbalized is termed as the declarative memory. The conversion of short-term memory into long-term memory is referred to as memory consolidation.
