List slicing:
- • Slicing is a concept of selecting a range of elements from a list.
- • In Python, an expression that selects a subsection of a list is known as a slice.
- • A slice is a span of elements that are taken from a list.
- • Normally, the slice expression has a start index and an end index for slicing.
- • In case if the start index is not provided, the python employs 0 as the start index.
Syntax:
In Python, the list slice statement without start index can be expressed as follows:
listname[:end]
Explanation:
In the list slice syntax,
- • If the “start” index is not provided, then python uses 0 as the start index by default.
- • “end” represents the index that marks the end of the slice.
- • The list slice expression returns a list having a copy of data from index “0” up to index “end-1”.
