Interpretation:
The empirical formula and the molecular formula of the compound should be calculated.
Concept Introduction:
Empirical formula of any compound represents the lowest whole number ratio of atoms in a compound. It does not represent the actual number of atoms in the molecule. The relation between molecular formula and empirical formula can be written as;
Molecular formula = small integer x empirical formula
The following steps should be followed to get the molecular formula:
1. Calculate the number of moles for each element.
2. Divide by smallest number of moles.
3. Write the empirical formula with the help of whole number of step-2.
4. Calculate the mass of empirical formula with the help of

The mass of S present in the crystal containing 4.85 g of iron should be calculated.
