ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is known as an open standard API (Application Programming Interface) used to access the database using application programs.

  • It allows the programmers to instruct various DBMS products using ODBC statements.
  • These instructions are translated into the API using “ODBC driver” for particular DBMS product.
  • The driver translates the result into a form and which was derived from DBMS , a part of this standard.
  • This standard has four components. They are:

    • Driver Manager
