Differences and similarities between graded potentials and action potentials.
Introduction:
The graded potential is developed when the ligand-gated channels are opened due to the presence of ligands. These channels are present in dendrites of the neurons. It causes the ions to enter or exit the neurons.
The action potential is caused when different ions cross the plasma membrane of the neuron. They cause the depolarization of the cell, as the sodium ion channels open. Further, action potential helps in the transmission of the signals.
