Summary Introduction

To review:

The ball structure that joins to the socket acetabulum.

Introduction:

The pelvic region consists of a pair of hip bones. These are attached to the femur bone. These are essential structures that connect the trunk of the body to the legs. The pelvic girdle is known to transfer the weight of the upper body to the legs. The three bones of the hip joint, namely ilium, ischium, and pubis, join during adulthood and form a triangular, suture-like structure known as the acetabulum.

Harry was jogging down the road when he tripped in a pothole. As he fell, his ankle twisted violently to the side. The diagnosis was severe dislocation and spraining of the ankle. The surgeon stated that she would perform a reduction of the dislocation and then attempt to repair the injured ligament using arthroscopy. (a) What kinds of movements can normally occur at the ankle joint? (b) Was the doctor telling Harry that his bones were broken? (c) What is reduction of a joint? (d) Why is it often necessary to repair ligaments surgically? (e) How will the use of arthroscopic surgery minimize Harry’s recovery time and his suffering?
A 22-year-old woman injures her right knee while playing soccer. With the knee flexed 90 degrees, the physician grasps the leg just below the knee and pulls theTibia toward him. More than 2 cm of forward mobility is noted. This finding suggests a tear in which or the followina structures?A) Anterior cruciate ligamentB) Lateral collateral ligamentC) Medial collateral ligamentD) Patellar tendonE) Posterior cruciate ligament
An 80-year-old grandmother, Tess, while putting dishes up on a shelf, fell off a step stool and was unable to get up. She activated her medical lifeline and the emergency medical team arrived at the scene. They noticed her right leg was abducted and she was complaining of pain in her right leg and hip. Tess was taken to the emergency department, where an X-ray revealed that the neck of her right femur was fractured. Further X-rays revealed a reduced bone mass in her right hip, femur, and vertebrae. Surgery was done to repair the hip. Tess is now recuperating and having physical therapy treatment daily. What is the injury?   Which organ and body system(s)  is this Name the type of tissue involved in this situation and the cells responsible for healing.    Explain what bone remodeling is (Include a diagram and source) and what type of cells are involved.   The physician says she will do an open reduction to repair Tess’s hip. Explain the process of an open reduction.
