Chapter 7, Problem 19DYKB
Summary Introduction
To analyze:
The way parathyroid hormone regulates blood calcium concentration.
Introduction:
PTH is a chemical messenger called a hormone usually secreted by the parathyroid glands that seek to regulate the level of calcium in the blood. It oversees vitamin D and phosphorus levels too. When the body generates fluctuation in parathyroid hormone, it can cause symptoms that are associated with elevated calcium levels in the bloodstream.

Identify the areas of the lipid bilayer that are hydrophobic and hydrophilic. Draw a membrane with two transporters: a proton pump transporter that uses ATP to generate a proton gradient, and a second transporter that moves glucose by secondary active transport (cartoon-like is ok). It will be important to show protons moving in the correct direction, and that the transporter that is powered by secondary active transport is logically related to the proton pump.arrow_forward
