Blood is the only fluid connective tissue. It is an opaque and sticky fluid with the color varying from scarlet to a dull red or purple. The WBCs (white blood cells), RBCs (red blood cells), and platelets are the living components of the whole blood suspended in the nonliving fluid matrix called plasma.
