The cable cars in San Francisco are pulled along their tracks by an
underground steel cable that moves along at 9.5 mph. The cable is
driven by large motors at a central power station and extends, via an
intricate pulley arrangement, for several miles beneath the city streets.
The length of a cable stretches by up to 100 ft during its lifetime. To
keep the tension constant, the cable passes around a 1.5-m-diameter
"tensioning pulley" that rolls back and forth on rails, as shown in (
Figure 1). A m = 2000 kg block is attached to the tensioning pulley's
cart, via a rope and pulley, and is suspended in a deep hole.

Part A
What is the tension in the car's cable?
Express your answer with the appropriate units.
A 6.0 x 102 kg car is moving around a circular track that has a radius of 1.00 x 102 m at 20. m/s. How much frictional force is required to keep the car from skidding.
A 3500 kg flatbed truck is carrying an unsecured 400 kg box of wine glasses. The coefficient of static friction between the box and the truck bed is Usb=0.50, the coefficient of rolling friction between the truck's tires and the road is Urt=0.03. The truck comes to an unbanked curve in the road having a 40m radius. What is the maximum speed with which the truck can take the curve without damaging the wine glasses? Note that in order for the wine glasses to not be damaged, the box they're in should not slide on the truck bed and the truck itself should not slide on the road while taking the curve.
