The variance of the sample is slightly smaller than the variance of the population.
Explanation of Solution
The difference between the sample and population variance is that, in general the variance of the sample would be slightly smaller when compared to the variance of the population from which the sample is taken. This makes the sample variance to be a biased estimate of the variance of population.
