The five zones of metaphysis and their major distinctions are to be determined.

Concept introduction:

The long bone is regionally divided into 3 basic parts namely, the epiphysis, metaphysis and diaphysis. The epiphysis is the portion that is present at the edge of the bone and is typically composed of spongy tissue. The metaphysis is the portion that lies adjacent to the epiphysis and is the site for bone growth during the childhood. The diaphysis is the portion that is sandwiched between the two metaphysis and epiphysis on both the sides.
