Explain your answer.
Hi there!
I need help with this question.
A right circular cylinder has a volume of 90 cubic inches. Find the radius and height that will yield minimum surface area.
I have already found the equation for volume and the surface area for this right circular cylinder in terms of radius "r" and height "h" for this problem which are:
1.)V=pir^2h
2.)SA with radius "r" and height "h"=2pir(h+r)
I now need to find:
1.) The surface area of this right circular cylinder in terms of only radius "r", no height "h".
2.) The radius "r" and height "h" that minimize the surface area.
Can you please help?
Thank You!
Question 13
>
A cylinder shaped can needs to be constructed to hold 500 cubic centimeters of soup. The material for the
sides of the can costs 0.02 cents per square centimeter. The material for the top and bottom of the can
need to be thicker, and costs 0.08 cents per square centimeter. Find the dimensions for the can that will
minimize production cost.
Helpful information:
h: height of can, r: radius of can
Volume of a cylinder: V = Tr'h
Area of the sides: A = 2nrh
%3D
Area of the top/bottom: A = ar?
To minimize the cost of the can:
Radius of the can:
