Summary Introduction

Introduction:

White blood cells are formed elements present in blood cells. They are defense cells in human body. There are two forms of WBCs: granular or agranular, which are distinct on basis of presence of granules or absence of granules.

There are three types of granular leukocytes: eosinophils, neutrophils and basophils. The agranular leukocytes are two types: lymphocytes or monocytes. Granular leukocytes contain granules in their cytoplasm. These granules take either acidic or basic stain and impart either blue or red color. They have polymorphic nuclear, hence they called as PML (polymorphic nuclear lymphocytes).
