Chapter 6, Problem 4RAC
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The bone is a form of connective tissue. The bone matrix is produced by the embedded bone cells within it. Bone characteristics are due to bone matrix composition. The main functional characteristics of the bone are the collagen and mineral elements. The collagen fibers provide the matrix with flexible strength, while the mineral elements provide strength for weight-bearing. Bones give shape to the body and perform many other functions.
