The importance of knowledge of the active site of an enzyme for building a drug to regulate a
Introduction:
Enzyme catalyses a reaction by lowering the activation energy required to start the reaction. Its active site is its most important structural and functional part. It has amino acid residues which can form temporary bonds with the substrate molecules. Substrate molecules form an enzyme-substrate complex via these bonds. The product is released from this complex and the active site of enzyme becomes free again for the next batch of substrate.
