Concept introduction

Source confusion occurs when we forget where information came from, or when we misremember the source of a memory. We may add false details we hear about after an event and then remember them as if we actually saw or heard them ourselves. Things we saw on screen or vividly imagined can become memories we believe we experienced. Whenever we forget the original source of information, false memories can result.
