The complete response of a system consists of mainly two parts:

  • Natural response
  • Forced response

Since for BIBO (bounded input and bounded output) stability one response should be of some finite value at some finite time which is the case with natural response. So, the part of output response which tells about the stability of a system is natural response of a system. It is responsible for determining a stability of a system.
