Introduction:

The altruistic behavior or altruism shows act of selfless or providing benefits to other. The animals cost themselves to increase fitness or wellness of other members. An example of altruism is shown by vervet monkeys.

Some members of these monkeys provide alarm calls to alert other members of the group, while making them more vulnerable to attack, since they attract predators to themselves by doing so. It leads to increase in survival of other monkeys, while putting themselves in danger.
