Introduction:

Edward Tolman was a Gestalt psychologist, he is known for his best-known experiments in learning involved teaching three groups of rats the same maze (path or collection of paths) at one time. In this experiment, the first group of rats was reinforced with food from the very first day of experimentation, for making its way out the other side. The second group’s rats did not reinforced till the ninth day, but on the tenth day they reinforced with food, and the last third group was not at all reinforced for the entire duration of the experiment.
