The biological basis for an experiment that plants “purify” air, allowing animals to breathe.

Concept introduction:

Joseph Priestley performs an experiment to demonstrate oxygen production by the plant. He placed two mice in two different closed jars. In the first jar, he placed a lit of candle along with mouse and in a second jar, he placed a plant along with a lit of candle and mouse. He observed that mouse placed in the first jar died, while mouse placed in the second jar survived. It shows that mouse purifies air which helps mouse to survive.
