ETL process:

Extracting the data from the database in the source and transforming it into the required form and loading it into the database in the target is the short form of the phrase “extract-transform-load (ETL)”. This process is also called data reconciliation process.

The following are the steps involved in the ETL process:

• Extract/capture
• Transform
• Load and index

Extract/Capture:

• Obtaining the data from the source is called extracting.
• Usually, all the data contained in the various operational source systems are not required, just a subset is required.
