Summary Introduction

Introduction

A conditioned stimulus is something that we do not react to automatically. We need to be taught or learn how to react to this stimulus. The stimulus is neutral and must be matched up with something else to bring about a reaction from us. If that neutral CS, such as the bell, is not matched up with the stimulus that automatically triggers a response, the UCS, that connection is soon lost.
