Information Issues in the Information Age:

Types of student data:

In college, student data refers to any information that they collects on individual students, including data such as follows:

• Personal information such as students name, age, gender, race, place of residence.
• Enrollment information like a student’s current grade level, years of attendance, the number of days student was absent, etc.
• Academic Information such as the courses completed, test scores, grades earned.
• Other forms of data that contain information related to disciplinary problems learning disabilities.

Loss of a thumb drive:

If one professor lost a thumb drive that contains a student’s personal information then they should take precautions to prevent their identities from being stolen. Someone will steal their personal and financial information for tax-related, financial, medical, and even criminal activities...
