Leno is 14-year-old boy suffering from Deep burns at his right anterior leg, affecting all layers of his skin
even deeper tissues caused by electrical accident. His surgeon recommends skin grafting procedure as his
medical-surgical intervention. The surgeon explained that they are going to perform full-thickness graft that
involves removing or harvesting all the epidermis and dermis from the donor site that is usually taken from the
abdomen, groin, forearm, or area above the clavicle. The small pieces of skin that is removed from the donor
sites will be used to cover the burned area. Though Leno know that it is a safe surgical procedure, his insight on
harvesting skin from other part of his body will create a new injury and might be his skin will no longer be the
same again in terms of color and texture. Do You think Leno's insight is correct? Justify your answer.
Will has just been diagnosed with melanoma on the anteromedial surface of his thigh. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, in large part because it tends to spread through the body (metastasize) fairly quickly. To determine if Will’s cancer has metastasized, Will’s doctor takes a sample of tissue from his lymph nodes and looks for the presence of cancer cells. If cancer cells are found in the lymph nodes, Will may have some lymph nodes surgically removed. Will’s doctor warns him that he may experience uncomfortable swelling in his leg if this happens
A) Explain why Will’s doctor is looking at the inguinal lymph nodes first to determine if the melanoma has spread. (A complete answer will include an explanation of why the ymph nodes and why these lymph nodes in particular.)
B) Use what you’ve learned about the lymphatic system to explain why removal of the lymph nodes may cause swelling in Will’s leg.
Ashley’s friend tells her that blackheads form due to the accumulation of dirt, and a mild facewash can effectively get rid of them. Is she correct in saying this?

Pause when Dr. Jablonski says, “That is what melanin does.” In this segment of the film, Dr. Jablonski references a paper she had read about the connection between UV exposure and the essential nutrient folate (a B vitamin), which circulates throughout the body in the blood. The paper, published in 1978, describes how the serum (blood) folate concentrations differed between two groups of light-skinned people. You will now look at one of the figures from that paper. Figure 3. Folate Levels in Two Groups of People. In one group (“patients”), 10 individuals were exposed to intense UV light for at least 30–60 minutes once or twice a week for three months. Sixty-four individuals not receiving this treatment (“normal”) served as the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (p < 0.005).
