Summary Introduction

To explain: The reason why oxidation–reduction reactions are important in biology.

Introduction: The basic unit of matter that has the properties of a chemical element is called an atom. An atom is made up of subatomic particles (neutrons, protons, and electrons). Atoms undergo different reactions to gain stability. A redox reaction is an electron transfer reaction in which an electron is transferred from one molecule to another. The transfer of electron oxidizes the electron donor and reduces the electron acceptor.
