Introduction:

Hairs, nails and follicles comprise the accessory structures of the integumentary system. They are keratinized structures that provide insulation in some mammals (hair) and act as defense mechanism of some organism (nails). The abnormal functioning of the keratinocytes of the body results in a disease called ichthyosis.
