Expert Solution & Answer
Chapter 4.7, Problem 4.24CP
Explanation of Solution
TryParse Method:
The TryParse method helps to avoid the exception when the user enters invalid inputs.
- This method helps to identify a string value which can be converted to specific data type before it is converted to that data type.
- There are so many TryParse methods in .NET. Some of the methods are given below:
- int.TryParse method is used to convert the string into integer data type.
- double.TryParse method is used to convert the string into double data type.
- decimal.TryParse method is used to convert the string into decimal data type.
- The general format for TryParse method is given below:
datatype.TryParse(string, out targetVariable)
Where,
- “datatype” indicates the data type such as “int”, “double”, and “decimal”.
- “string” indicates the string which need to convert.
- “targetVariable” indicates the name of data type variable.
- “out” indicates the output variable.
- This method helps to convert the “string” into specific data type.
- If the conversion is successful, then store the converted value in “targetVariable” and the method returns the Boolean value “true” for successful conversion.
- If the conversion is not successful, then it does not throw an exception instead it stores the value “0” in “targetVariable” and the method returns the Boolean value “false” for conversion failure.
Therefore, the TryParse method stores the value “0” in “targetVariable” which is specified in second argument when the string is not converted successfully...
