Concept introduction: Corticosteroids are one of the classes of steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal glands. A decrease in corticosteroid receptors in the hypothalamus would lead to a condition where the levels of the corticosteroids will be elevated. The main reasons behind such reactions are failure in feedback inhibition on the hypothalamic neurons that induces the secretion of (cortisol) that stimulates the release of ACTH from the anterior pituitary.
