To describe: The process by which growth occurs in long bones.
Introduction: In the human skeletal system, new bones are produced by the hardening of cartilage, and this process is called bone formation (ossification). The cartilages get replaced by the accumulation of calcium and phosphate salts in a growing person. The process of ossification is classified into intramembranous and endochondral ossification.
