USA. Benjamin Banneker (1731-1806) is one of the great American heroes of
all time. The son and grandson of Africans captured and enslaved, he was
fortunate to have been born free. He inherited the family farm where he worked
hard all of his life. As a child he had a few months of schooling. Everything else
he had to do on his own. He loved mathematics and science but did not get a
chance to learn astronomy until he was in his fifties. Then he performed a near
miracle, learning it all in less than a year. In his hand-written journal, he
recorded two right triangle examples that interested him. You can solve them
here and remember the great man who enjoyed geometry.
On the page in his journal next to the August 1775 astronomy
calculations, Banneker wrote, in the style of that time: Suppose a ladder 60
feet long be placed in a Street so as to reach a window on the one Side 37
feet high, and without moving it at bottom, will reach another window on
the other side of teh Street which is 23…
Just the question b.
For the remainder of this question, we will consider one of the world's most popular video games,
Minecraft (adapted from Mills & Mills, 2016). In this game, the character (you) can attempt to tame
a wolf with a bone. Assume that you get 9 tries to tame the wolf, i.e. there are 9 bones. Each time
you tame the wolf, the wolf becomes a dog and a new wolf appears which you can then attempt to
also tame. This continues until you have used up all 9 bones, and the goal is to end up with as
many dogs as possible at the end of the game. The probability of taming the wolf with each
attempt is fixed at 0.54. Let X denote the number of dogs at the end of the game so that
X~ BIN (9,0.54). Assume you are about to play the game.
13. What is the probability you will tame more than 4 dogs?

- For the remainder of this question, we will consider one of the world's most popular video games, Minecraft (adapted from Mills & Mills, 2016). In this game, the character (you) can attempt to tame a wolf with a bone. Assume that you get 9 tries to tame the wolf, i.e. there are 9 bones. Each time you tame the wolf, the wolf becomes a dog and a new wolf appears which you can then attempt to also tame. This continues until you have used up all 9 bones, and the goal is to end up with as many dogs as possible at the end of the game. The probability of taming the wolf with each attempt is fixed at 0.54. Let X denote the number of dogs at the end of the game so that X~ BIN (9,0.54). Assume you are about to play the game. 11. - how to solve this question in R programmingarrow_forwardSubtract 1.2a“ – 0.7a from the sum of 0.6 a4 + 1.5a and 0.4 a4 - 1.1a First, we will translate the words of the problem into mathematical symbols. Then we will perform the indicated operations. The words of the problem contain the key phrases subtract from and sum. Since 1.2a4 – 0.7a is to be subtracted from the sum, the order must be reversed when we translate to mathematical symbols. Subtract 1.2a4 0.7a from the sum of 0.6a + 1.5a and 0.4a4 1.1a. [(0.6 a4 + 1.5a) + (0.4 at – 1.1a) ] - (1.2a* – 0.7a) Use brackets [ ] to enclose the sum. Next, we remove the grouping symbols to obtain 0.6 a4 + 1.5a + 0.4 at – 1.1a -1.2a4 + 0.7a Change the sign of each term within (1.2a4 - 0.7a) and drop the parentheses. at+ a Combine like terms. %D Subtract -0.6q? – 0.6q from the sum of 0.1q? - 0.6q and 0.3q² + 0.1q.arrow_forwardFor the remainder of this question, we will consider one of the world's most popular video games, Minecraft (adapted from Mills & Mills, 2016). - ANSWER THE FOLLOWING A company produces two types of tables, T1 and T2. It takes 2 hours to produce the parts of one unit of T1, 1 hour to assemble and 2 hours to polish. It takes 4 hours to produce the parts of one unit of T2, 2.5 hour to assemble and 1.5 hours to polish. Per month, 7000 hours are available for producing the parts, 4000 hours for assembling the parts and 5500 hours for polishing the tables. The profit per unit of T1 is $90 and per unit of T2 is $110. Set T1 = X1 ; T2 =X2 ; Z=Profit Profit Equation would be: a. Z= 90 x1 + 110 x2 b. Z= 1.5 x1 + 2.5 x2 c. Z= 2 x1 + 3 x2 d.
