To explain: The way hypophysectomy on an early tadpole will affect the level of thyroxine hormone and metamorphosis.
Introduction: Hormones are chemicals messengers that are produced and circulated in the blood to regulate behavior, physiological, and
Explanation of Solution
A metamorphosis is an important event of tadpole life. Metamorphosis refers to the transformation of an immature form of a tadpole to its adult form. Hypophysectomy in early tadpole will disturb the entire signaling axis, thyroxine would not be secreted and metamorphosis would be blocked.
To explain: The way hypophysectomy on a late tadpole will affect the level of thyroxine hormone and metamorphosis.
Explanation of Solution
The pituitary gland secretes thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH signaling is initiated in the early tadpole. This stimulates the thyroxine secretion that binds with the gene for expressing proteins for metamorphosis. If hypophysectomy is performed in late tadpole then it will not affect the metamorphosis or thyroxine level because in late tadpole pituitary hormone is not required.

- The visceral mass of gastropods take a 180 degree turn during development. This causes the anus to be positioned anteriorly. This process is called (parthenogenesis/ eutely/ metamorphosis/ torsion)?arrow_forwardUse the following information to answer the question. For your internship at the local zoo, you have been assigned to help with the new orangutan-breeding program. Little is known about orangutan reproductive hormones, but hormone feedback cycles are often the same in closely related animals. You have been asked to use your knowledge of the interactions of human reproductive hormones to recommend injections to promote ovulation in a female orangutan when a visiting male arrives for a brief breeding visit. Which of the following hormones would you inject a few days before the male visit if you want to induce ovulation when he arrives? They feed heavily on small fish, and recently we have measured high levels of endocrine mimic toxins in their system. Walley are showing many developmental issues related to this. In studies of humans, we see those that are regular customers of the Friday fish-fry or regularly consume Walley show even higher levels in their blood. What is the accumulation of toxins like the endocrine mimics called and what is the reason for the high levels in humans?arrow_forward
