The advantage of the difference in the mass of the left ventricle in the heart of athletes and non-athletes.
Introduction:
The ventricle is the large chamber of the heart, which had thick walls in comparison to that of the atria. This is due to the fact that the ventricles face a high blood pressure to supply blood to the entire body. With constant workout and other cardiac condition, which require the heart to pump more blood, the mass of the ventricle changes.
The scientists conducted an experiment on the athletes, non-athletes, and ex-athletes to check the mass of the left ventricle using echocardiography. The results are summarized in the graph given below:
The results suggested that the current athletes had more ventricular mass as compared to the non-athletes.
