Two types of reproduction occur in all living organisms on the Earth. The adaptation that allows land-dwelling animals to reproduce on land is internal fertilization. It allows them to maintain gametes from drying out. In this method, reproduction occurs inside the female body. Some marine animals such as, whale, dolphin and guppies reproduce by internal fertilization.
