Chapter 40.2, Problem 2CC
Summary Introduction

To explain:

The reason why the changing conditions challenge the survival of the organisms living in the estuaries experiencing both freshwater and saltwater conditions each day with the rising and falling of tides.

Concept introduction:

The species of plants, fishes and animals living in the saline conditions near the estuary adapt to the changing conditions of the climate. The plants have aerated roots for removing the salts and for the intake of gas for the metabolism inside plant cells. The fishes migrate from this region, due to the change in the climate. The sea organisms like blue crab and oyster migrate during the breeding season and the laying of eggs to the other regions to avoid the excessive salty conditions in estuaries.

The fish has large gills, a swim bladder, a streamlined body, and well-developed muscles that can withstand changes in pressure. Press the hotspot that indicates the water layer where this fish most likely lives. Hint: If it can withstand changes in pressure, it's probably swimming be- tween zones.
